From the Dead Sea to the Red Sea

I travel south to the Red Sea resort town of Eilat. On the way, I stop at the Dead Sea and take the opportunity to go for a swim there as well.

Floating in the Dead Sea is a unique experience. The water is so salty that you simply float effortlessly on the surface. Some visitors even cover themselves in the famous Dead Sea mud, which is believed to have therapeutic properties.

The Dead Sea itself lies at about –430 meters below sea level, making it the lowest point on Earth. Even late in the day, the water remains pleasantly warm, adding to the surreal feeling of floating in such an unusual place.

Later I continue to Eilat, Israel’s small but lively resort town on the Red Sea. It is worth noting that Israel has only a tiny strip of coastline on the Red Sea, just a few kilometers long between Jordan and Egypt. Despite this limited stretch of land, the Israelis have managed to turn it into a well-known international resort destination.

In the evening I visit a local place called The Three Monkey Pub, a typical stop for travelers and tourists enjoying the nightlife after a long day of exploring.
